New live mix released (finally!): Live @ Vital (2008.03.20), mixed by myself, PunkMasterTechs & NATO (download). Taking full advantage of Vital’s offer of open tables in their store, Stefan, Nate & I showed up to have a little mini-rave. Names on the mix are given in order in which we played, 3-5 tracks at a time, before switching up. Thanks to Vital for the opportunity to play and for putting up with happy hardcore for a few hours. To say that school has been all-consuming would be an understatement. However, school will be out in a matter of hours (my final final is coming up this afternoon), so there should be some more activity here in a bit. There will be a new mix up here by the end of the break, I just haven’t had time to record it. I’ve also been transitioning from vinyl to an all-digital setup, using M-Audio’s Xponent. Ripping vinyl records at ~7 minutes a side takes a LONG time, to say the least. With any luck I’ll be finished by the end of break.

I haven’t had as much fun at a Minneapolis party in a while, and a lot of that had to do with awesome music all night long. Stefan’s birthday party was, in my opinion, a raging success. With the place packed pretty much all night long. Great music, purple drank, free cupcakes, Buy You a Drank remixes all night long; how could you go wrong?

So Future:Perfect got kind of rained out. And when I say kind of I mean to say that there was a lot of fucking rain. Part of the fun of a camp out event is the wandering around from stage to stage, living in a world with a steady 4/4 beat no matter where you go. Unfortunately all of the rain made this practice untenable. Most of our time was spent in tents and under canopies, trying our best to stay dry.

Notable sets included Skroller’s inaugural oldskool/breakcore/psytrance set, DJNR8 playing breaks. DJ Sota playing some banging tech trance, PunkMasterTechs with the cheesy happy hardcore, and Dan Hack playing some punishing drum and bass.

Hopefully the rain doesn’t discourage DC from throwing a three-day event next August.

You’ll be able to find me at Future:Shift Future:Perfect this weekend, August 17-19 in Black River Falls, WI. I’ll be doing some vending for DC Productions and having an epic time wandering from stage to stage. Come out and have an awesome time with us! Full flyer with details after the beak.

However, due to my 5-year old nephew getting fingerprints all over my copy of Shining Down right before I went on and Timmy fucking with the levels due to speaker issues, the recording was pretty much crap.
